From their purpose built machine shop in Saldanha, Hansing Engineering conducts a highly professional mechanical service second to none to MultiServ SA since 1998. Many of the spares on our purpose-build machines are not readily available and Hansing Engineering has always been able to manufacture new spares of a better quality in a short time. Hansing Engineering provides a precision engineering service to various departments at our Saldanha Branch of Arcelor Mittal SA and in particular to the Hot Strip Mill Engineering function. Over the last ten years they provided us with not only fast, efficient, precise and cost effective machining services, but have also been instrumental in various design aspects of some of our projects and maintenance activities.

They have given excellent technical support and know-how with regards to specialised steels and machining practices, as well as with heat treatment processes. They are renowned for running a well-disciplined and top quality firm and are actively involved in training and development programs. We believe that these achievements are a direct result of the staff's hands on involvement and commitment to first world quality standards, coupled with a strong work ethic.

Hansing Engineering has done excellent work for our company in past years. They have on numerous occasions assisted us with innovative designs and ideas to solve various problems in our processes. The quality of their workmanship is always of the highest standard.

The steel mill in Saldanha took several years before production reached the design capacity of 1.2 million tons of hot rolled coils per annum. Technical problems encountered were many, large and small. A simple drive-rod proved to be the cause of serious down-time, averaging 4 hours at a time, as often as 6 times over a three month period. This had serious consequences. The entire production process came to a standstill due to the bottle-necking effect of these stoppages. Time is money and a solution had to be found.

We contacted Hansing and over the next few months, joint input and fine-tuning resulted in a smaller, stronger and simpler drive-rod with a reliability of a much higher standard than previously experienced. The team effort between Arcelor Mittal and Hansing has contributed significantly to the healthy financial results now being experienced. The drive-rods designed and manufactured by Hansing are operating virtually maintenance free, only being replaced according to their planned maintenance schedule.

We have been making use of Hansing Engineering since 1998. The quality of their work is well above average, in particular their ability to drastically improve the quality of troublesome components which used to cause breakdowns. We are aware that their passion for training is to some extent responsible for their outstanding workmanship and service. We recommend them to anyone who would require the type of service they provide.

Hansing Engineering has turned conventional wisdom on its head by embarking on a focussed and highly successful technical training initiative. Visitors to the Merseta-accredited training centre observe a buzzing environment with learners engaged in the theoretical and practical aspects of their training. The owner, Hans Herrmann, takes a hands-on approach to training. He spends a great deal of time in the training centre interacting with instructors and learners, guiding, cajoling and motivating them, ensuring that the life skills training offered to the youngsters meets stringent standards.
